Life is Unexpected

If the world was supposed to be unexpected then our lives would be filled with pleasant surprises everyday. Most of the time we really know what is going to happen and we just wish and hope for a pleasant surprise. Surprises come sometimes as well. But not nearly as much as people wish they could. Like today, I found out that teachers really don't like laptops in schools. Even teachers that I find are revolutionary, go with the kids point of view, they just don't understand why the heck there is a need for this technology. They are annoyed by any problem that comes there way and even the simplest solution is a whole teaching session of multiple steps. The brains of people today is a whole new way to the world. Kids know how to problem solve, work with slow downs, and make use of what they got. Adults have none of these brain skills. They're not dumb but the ways that adults and kids work with things is soo different that the world will never be the same again. It is the unexpected way that the world has turned into a digital, information changing hands, people knowing things in minutes time, to quote cisco the world is a "human" network. It is the largest network that is known to man and who knows what will happen when the kids become adults and run the show. If we are telling students now that the skys the limit what will be said in 5 or 10 years. The possibilities are endless and all created by the unexpected changes of the internet. If we can just teach the adults that it's not all bad then there is no stopping. What will make them change??????

I don't I agree with your statement "Adults have none of these brain skills". Remember that some adults haven't had the experience with technology that students have. Some adults were born before there were televisions, CD's and computers! Why would they know how to use technology. I would argue that there are students that could care less about technology too. But that being said, I think today's students are more adept at figuring out technology issues as they have grown up with it.
I hope that you will think about documenting your work with teachers as the year goes on. The work you are doing with Student Tech Team could start to address some of the ways students can assist teachers. I know that teachers will be very appreciative and students might learn something too!
